Sometimes you meet people in the strangest of ways. When looking for a previously worn/loved wedding dress, Nancy answered an online post and went to the home of one of my previous brides. After trying on the dress, they got to talking about all things wedding. Naturally, the wedding photos I shot came out and Nancy was drawn to them, so she asked who their photographer was and she contacted me immediately.
Next thing you know, I’m meeting with Nancy and her fiance Nick, who are self-proclaimed nerds that have planned a wedding full of weekend-long activities for their community of family and friends. It was their hope to celebrate their love with the tangible help of their loved ones, and made special plans for their community to contribute their talents in whatever ways they were be able to (food, music, art, etc.).
I truly believe that relationships/marriage/love is not only strengthened, but exists because of the communities we choose to be a part of. Needless to say, I was excited to be a part of Nick and Nancy’s celebration of love.
Through goofy nerves, I photographed Nick and Nancy’s engagement session in their San Francisco neighborhood of Glen Park and Glen Canyon Park. If you haven’t been to Glen Canyon Park (I didn’t even know this existed in the city), you should visit!
